Spotlight June 2026

Dear Friends & Supporters of Darren & Shan and the Cross Keys.

We are writing today with faith and hope, to share an urgent need concerning Darren and Shan.

Recently, Darren suffered a major heart attack. The medical team caring for him described the severity of the event as having only a 12% survival rate. By God’s grace, Darren survived, but the road ahead will require significant rehabilitation, rest, and ongoing medical recovery.

As many of you know, Darren and Shan have faithfully poured themselves into the life of Llanfyllin through Cross Keys a former pub building in Llanfyllin. What was once simply a building has become a place of welcome, support, encouragement, a place filled with the love of Christ and a place of hope for many people across the area.

Week after week, the Cross Keys has run initiatives that serve and strengthen the local community — offering practical love, wisdom, support, friendship, outreach, and a safe space for people from all walks of life. Darren and Shan have given tirelessly to this work, often carrying the burdens of others while quietly sacrificing much themselves.

As a board we wish to follow the medical advice and believe that, Darren and Shan need to step back for a three-month sabbatical to focus fully on rehabilitation, recovery, and healing. This period, beginning in June 22nd and ending at September 22nd, is essential, not optional. Darren’s health and long-term wellbeing are of our paramount concern.

During this time, we are seeking to raise financial support to help cover both personal living costs and the ongoing needs connected with the ministry and community work at Cross Keys.

We want to ensure that Darren and Shan are able to rest without the added pressure of financial uncertainty, and that the ministry they have built can continue to stand strong during this season.

Therefore, We are asking you to prayerfully consider supporting them in one or more of the following ways:

  • A one-off financial gift (Bank details below)
  • Regular financial support during the sabbatical period form June 22nd to September 22nd. (Bank details below)
  • Prayer for Darren’s recovery and for Shan’s strength and encouragement
  • Sharing this appeal with others who know and value the work of Cross Keys Ministries

This is a moment for the wider community, friends, churches, and supporters to come around two people who have consistently given so much of themselves to others.

Your kindness, generosity, and prayers will make a real and immediate difference.

Thank you for standing with Darren and Shan during this difficult season.

With gratitude and hope,

Kevin & Linsey Potter
